botox injections for wrinkles
The cosmetic effects that botox achieves are those surrounding age reduction; for such a recognized treatment it is surprising how many people haven't a clue how it works. To help with this, we need to
step back a few decades to when this substance was first researched and used. It may be famous now for its use in cosmetic surgery but it wasn't always that way when it was first being studied by scientists half a century ago; originally the purpose of this was to treat neurological disorders.

In 1989 it was finally approved by the FDA to treat eye muscle disorders; some of these included patients with excessive, involuntary blinking and for those suffering with crossed eyes plus, on occasion, wrinkles. In the year 2000 was given the all clear for the of treatment cervical dystonia. this eases the pain from serious contractions in the shoulders and neck, but it was also given the ok to be used on another more unusual eye condition. In their research, doctors discovered that Botox softened the frown lines between the eyebrows; following this the FDA finally recognized the implications and agreed its commercial use in 2002.

Botox has a paralyzing affect when it is injected into areas of the forehead which control the muscles that cause frowning; in time frown lines gradually soften and subside if sufficient treatments are given. Continued treatments mean in many cases the lines disappear and now the same treatment is used on other areas of the face like the crows' feet, laughter lines and other facial wrinkles. To allay any fears about injection toxin into our bodies these injections only contain a diluted and purified version of the poison; Botulinum toxin can be deadly and at the very least make us unwell but when it is used in cosmetic procedures it is safe.

The reason people want to use the injections is because every time you laugh, smile, frown, or for that matter do just about anything with your facial muscles, wrinkles are caused by the underlying contractions of these muscles. This treatment is able to take back, for a temporary period, all those years of lines, creases and wrinkles that has formed from the use of our facial muscles; whilst many manufacturers have tried to produce creams that eliminate these wrinkles and creases (unsuccessfully), this treatment can at least for a short period. Muscles in the area of the botox injection become paralyzed temporarily so they cannot move fully; because facial movement is reduced, it can give a doll like appearance to the user.

Because frown line, wrinkles and facial creases have all but disappeared, it provides the user with a look of someone much younger. Whilst popular this cosmetic treatment is still very expensive for what it is; often considered something only celebrities can afford because a single injection can cost anywhere from a few hundred to over a thousand dollars. There is always some concern about new treatments and botox is no exception with many people worried about the long term effects of injections, but even so this has not stopped its popularity.
